Gate Guard - Security for Remote Locations

JG Security – Remote Oil Field Security System

When JG Security approached us to modernize their remote field security technology, we jumped at the opportunity. We started with a field visit to a working oil site with almost no internet connectivity. Spending the day alongside gate guards gave us deep insight into the real-world challenges of managing access in harsh, disconnected environments.

The Challenge

Build a robust, offline-first iPad application that could:

- Work instantly with little or no internet

- Securely store sensitive data locally and sync when connected

- Capture and attach photos of drivers and vehicles

- Automatically read and record license plates (ALPR)

- Record audio of every visitor interaction

- Quickly search and filter people and vehicles

- Handle fast check-in and check-out for both people and vehicles

What We Delivered

1. High-Performance Offline-First iPad App

A native iPad application (built with Swift and the latest iOS technologies) that works flawlessly offline and takes full advantage of Apple’s Liquid Glass design language on the newest devices.

2. Comprehensive Web Ecosystem

- Gate Guard Admin Portal – Centralized management of all guards, credentials, sites, and devices

- Rich Client Portal – Real-time visibility for JG’s customers, featuring:

- Live notifications with custom chimes when personnel enter or exit

- Photo gallery of every visitor and vehicle

- Complete access history and searchable logs

- Live and historical camera feeds

- Smart-lock access records

3. Seamless Integrations

Connected the new system with two of JG Security’s existing security platforms for a unified experience.

The final solution far exceeded expectations, delivering speed, reliability, and security in environments where traditional apps simply fail.

Working with the JG Security team was a genuine pleasure — they’re a forward-thinking company that’s truly shaping the future of remote physical security. If we ever needed top-tier protection in challenging locations, we know exactly who we’d call.
